Professional Celebrity Kerry Katona given an August deadline to pay a debt or go bankrupt.
She is currently in trouble with the taxman to the tune of £157,000. As well as being threatened with bankruptcy over unpaid tax from 2004 to 2006, she owes £73,000 tax from 2007.
Mainly thanks to lurching from one disaster to the next, Ms Katona has managed to maintain a high profile in the supermarket celebrity gossip magazines for several years. One such magazine has even put here on the paypoll, seemingly to give here a platform to slag off other such similar minor celebrities and her own mother.
Her lawyer Luke Harris persuaded the court to give her until August 7 to pay, saying Katona, who was not in court, could not meet the full amount because of ‘changed circumstances’, but she was expecting payments of £472,000 before the end of August.
He said she was also strenuously seeking to remortgage her properties but there would be no need if the money came – ‘I would ask for one final indulgence by the court’.
Indulgence is something Ms Katona knows all about.
Despite her debt management troubles, Katona has showered husband Mark Croft with an estimated £1.5million of luxury motors.
In the past two years, she has bought him a Ferrari, two BMWs, two Range Rovers, a Lamborghini, four Porsches, two Aston Martins, an Audi and two superbikes.
